TATTOOS & PIERCINGS
Hello people out there! We are Freya, Lea & Natascha and we are students from the “Große Schule” in Wolfenbüttel. This website is an English-project. The main topic was ''the media'' and we had the freedom of choosing a topic on our own, so we decided to choose ''tattoos & piercings'' and we want to tell you a little bit about them. First you can watch a video we have made in our school. We have interviewed some teachers and some students and we have asked them what they think about that kind of body-modification. Enjoy it!

Interviews
Our first interview with Mrs. Flachsbart
Freya : Hello, we want to ask you some questions about tattoos and piercings. Is it okay for you?
Mrs. Fl : Yes it is okay.
Freya : The first questions is, what do you think about tattoos and piercings?
Mrs. Fl : On the right places on the body it is pretty.
Freya : The next question is, would you like to have a tattoo or a piercing?
Mrs. Fl : Yes.
Freya : And have you got a tattoo or a piercing?
Mrs. Fl : Yes.
Freya : So, the last one is, have you got some advices for young people who want to have a tattoo
or a piercing?
Mrs. Fl : Yes, you should think about it carefully, what do you want to have and especially which
motive you choose, and where do you want to have this tattoo. I know of people who
would be grateful if their tattoos would not be made.
Interview with Mrs. Dziondziak
Freya : Would you like to have an interview with us?
Mrs. D : Yes, it is okay.
Freya : So, our first question is, what do you think about tattoos and piercings?
Mrs D : I like tattoos, but not all of them. And I do not like too much tattoos. It must fit with the
person. It is a pity that tattoos are so trendy today. And lower back tattoos are not pretty.
Freya : Would you like to have a tattoo or a piercing?
Mrs. D : Tattoos yes, piercings no.
Freya : Have you got a tattoo?
Mrs. D : Yes I have.
Freya : Have you got any advices for young people who want to have a tattoo or a piercing?
Mrs. D : Do not make it ''just for fun''. You should think about it very carefully. Do not make a
spontaneous tattoo on a festival when you drunk.
Freya : Do you think tattoos and piercings are acceptable for teachers and other authority
persons?
Mrs. D : It doesn't matter. The important thing is the subject-specific.
Interview with Mr. Ehl
Freya: So first, what do you think about tattoos and piercings?
Mr. E : It's a legitimate, fashionable accessorize, but i woud not like it for myself.
Freya: Would you like to have a tattoo or apiercing?
Mr. E : No.
Freya: Have you got a tattoo or a piercing?
Mr. E : No.
Freya: Have you got any advices for young people who want to have a tattoo or a piercing?
Mr. E : You should think about tattoos very carefully. And you should make sure about the hygiene at piercings.
Freya: Do you think tattoos and piercings are acceptable for teachers and other authority
persons?
Mr. E : No problem, if it is not discriminatory. The teachers should be as varied as their students.
Tattoos & Piercings
For the most people of the world tattoos and piercings are not acceptable. They have got many prejudices against them. But they did not know that you can express your personality in a very good way. Some tattoos can be very emotional. In addition it is a new trend in the 21th centrury and especially in germany. That kind of body modification has got a long tradition too. It was found a 5000 years old skeleton called "Ötzi the iceman", on his body they saw 57 carbon tattoos which are behind his left knee and his right ankle. Those people in the fifth millennuim BC thought that tattooing is a kind of acupuncture and is good for their healths. Also nationalsocialists used tattoos to mark jews with numbers, the SS men have got a tattoo on the inside of their arms.
The first piercings are verified in the fifth millennuim BC, the same century the tattoos was invided. The oldest earrings was found in a grave date to 2500 BC.
Also ''Ötzi'', we have told something about him before, has got streched ear piercing 7-11mm. Piercings were allthough used to define the diffrent tribes, and to show the authority of the several members in one tribe. Today piercings are a trendy jewellery and many teenager have some of them. The Flesh-Tunnel are very popular, and thay get more and more popular because its a new trend of the 21th century. This is an african costum, but some asien tribes have got this costum too. Also Tut ensch amun has got streched ear piercings, so you see - a very old custom.
